Gray's Creek Facts

Congrats, you showed up.
§ Privacy

Your information, and what we do with it.

The short version: we never publish your name without your explicit permission, and we never sell, rent, or hand your information to anyone.

Gray's Creek Facts is run by residents and business owners inside the proposed boundary. We collect only what we need to organize neighbors and maintain a public record, and we treat it carefully.

The short version

  • We never publish your name, address, or contact information unless you explicitly opt in on the form where you provide it.
  • We never sell, rent, or trade your information, and we do not share it with the petitioners, political committees, advocacy groups, or marketing lists.
  • You can ask us to remove your information at any time by emailing facts@grayscreekfacts.com.

What we collect, and why

We only collect information you choose to give us through a form on this site:

  • Adding your name to the record or signing up: your name, email, general area or address, an optional phone number, and whether you oppose, support, or are undecided. We use this to understand where neighbors stand and to contact you if you asked us to.
  • Asking a question: your question, and optionally your name and email so we can follow up.
  • The "Am I Inside?" boundary tool: the address you enter, so we can check it against the proposed boundary and show you the result.
  • Reporting back from a meeting: what you submit, plus optional contact details if you provide them.
  • Basic technical information that any website receives, such as your browser type, used to keep the site working and to prevent abuse.

Consent before anything is public

Nothing you submit is published automatically. A person reviews submissions, and your name or address appears on the public site only if you checked the box asking us to list it. If you asked to be listed by name but not by address, we honor that. If you did not opt in, your information stays private and is used only to keep our internal record.

Where we do show submissions on a map, we deliberately blur the exact location — map pins are offset by roughly 100 to 180 meters and the house number is removed — so that no one's precise home is pinpointed.

Media contact

Residents can separately opt in to be contacted by journalists. If you do, we share only the contact methods you authorized, and only with outlets we have verified. We never share that list with the petitioners, committees, or marketers, and you can revoke it anytime by emailing us. This is described further on our About and For Press pages.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that follow you around the web. Our fonts are served from this site, not a third party. Some pages use your browser's local storage for site features — for example, to remember that you have already seen the latest update. Pages that show a map load map tiles from OpenStreetMap and CARTO; like any web request, those services receive your device's IP address in order to send the map images.

How your information is stored

Submissions are stored in a database hosted on Cloudflare, the same service that serves this website. Access to that data is restricted to the people who maintain the site. We keep information only as long as it is useful to the effort, and we remove it on request.

Your choices

  • See, correct, or remove your information: email facts@grayscreekfacts.com and we will handle it, usually within 48 hours.
  • Stop being contacted: tell us and we will stop. Any email we send you will also include a way to opt out.
  • Take back a listing: if your name is on the public record and you want it gone, we remove it.

Children

This site is meant for adults deciding whether to sign a petition. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes will also be noted in our updates.
